Nina Brown has been a tireless advocate for the Parkinson's community and for medical research since she was first diagnosed in 1985. For about 15 years, Nina has served on the HAPS Board of Advisors as well as the Board of Directors as a member of the Executive Board as vice president and secretary, and as editor of HAPS monthly newsletter.

Despite her physical limitations, she has educated the public about the disease and is recognized as a well-known resource for senators and congressmen wanting information about the Parkinson’s movement; she is looked to for information, solace and support among those with Parkinson’s disease.

In addition to the numerous state and national awards she has received for her contributions on behalf of those with Parkinson's disease, Nina is a founding Board Member of The Alliance for Medical Research and Texans for Advancement of Medical Research. Because of the work she has done, her determination and positive spirit, Nina was asked to make a presentation on "Hope” as a keynote speaker for a statewide Parkinson’s meeting in Arizona.

It was while she was putting together this presentation that she realized how essential hope is in the lives of everyone, not just those with Parkinson's. Subsequently, she has taken her message of hope on the road, presenting it nationally. Nina is a firm believer in “accentuating the positive and eliminating the negative.” She emphasizes that with all that is bad, there is good to be found. She has found a way to make the most out of the life she has been given, to have fun and to never give up hope. If you don't believe in the importance of hope, we know you will by the end of this video.
