NOTICE: HAPS in-person groups and classes are beginning to reopen with precautionary measures in place. We continue to monitor the local COVID-19 situation and have implemented protocol that we feel is in the best interest of our participants, instructors, volunteers, and donated facilities. All participants must register or re-register and be pre-enrolled in order to attend in-person sessions. Contact the HAPS office for details. Stay connected to HAPS by checking our calendar of events or checking our Facebook page for the latest updates.

Houston Area Parkinson Society offers an educational program developed specifically for those who have been recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The three-hour program is designed as a "Parkinson's 101" course for individuals who have been diagnosed within the past three years and their family members or friends who want to learn more about the disease. Given the current COVID-19 situation, all in-person programs have been moved to a virtual platform at this time.

The program is presented by a local neurologist and HAPS Medical Advisory Board member. The small group of 35-40 participants provides an intimate learning environment and allows plenty of time for questions and answers.

The program is free of charge.

Participants can attend as many sessions as needed within three years of their diagnosis.

Pre-registration is required. Please check back for more details as they continue to emerge for the 2021 schedule.
