We hope you will be part of this festive evening as we recognize exciting and groundbreaking work that is taking place in our community.
Your support of this event will raise critical funds for essential specialized programs HAPS offers that improve life for thousands of individuals and their family members in the greater Houston area with Parkinson’s disease.
This year it gives us great pleasure to announce a newly established award in tribute to George H. W. Bush in honor of the enormous contributions he has made to our society, and in recognition of his brave and optimistic approach to a life changed by vascular parkinsonism. The humanitarian legacy that President Bush created in 1990 by signing the Americans with Disabilities Act into law was a landmark victory that has had a far-reaching impact in the lives of those with mobility challenges and disabilities over the past twenty-eight years—and it is in place to serve us all in the years to come. President Bush’s ability to face the reality of his diagnosis with great resolve and make the best of the situation is an inspiration to countless people who live with Parkinson’s and related disorders. Admired by our nation and throughout the world, as a luminary and celebrity with local roots, he touches Houston residents in unique and deeply meaningful ways.
We hope you will join us as we further the mission of Houston Area Parkinson Society and improve the quality of life for individuals and families affected by this incurable neurodegenerative disease.
