"We are doing the Argentine tango, and it's really a lot of fun. I got to learn how to turn and did a little bit of foot work, and I really, really truly enjoy that. That's my favorite."

harveyWhile Houston is in full recovery mode from Hurricane Harvey, Houston Area Parkinson Society continues to respond to its clients who have the added challenge of specialized needs related to the management of Parkinson’s disease. This catastrophic event has left many HAPS clients with damage to their homes and an inability to access basic supplies, pharmacies, physicians or normal routines for disease management. Many who are now in shelters are there with a limited amount of Parkinson’s medications to take, the timing of which is critical to their ability to function, and may be without necessary adaptive equipment that makes their mobility possible.

Beyond the immediate concerns, there will be tremendous recovery needs for a long time to come. We know that many in our community have lost much and have experienced a significant amount of trauma. Making a donation will allow HAPS to assist our Parkinson's community with what is required to get their lives back on track post-Harvey. Together we can help those with Parkinson's affected by the storm rebuild and recover.

On behalf of the thousands of families in the 8-county area HAPS serves, thank you for your support!
