Special events have been vital to Houston Area Parkinson Society fundraising since it was founded as an all-volunteer organization in 1974 and began raising funds to support programs and services. HAPS has three major events in most years — the Gala, the Chevron Houston Marathon, and Blues, Brews & Barbecue.

Friends and family gather each year for an evening of entertainment, dinner, great enthusiasm, and a shared mission at the Eat, Drink & Be Charitable gala. This event is our largest fundraising event, providing essential funds that allow HAPS to provide free services and programs to the HAPS community.

HAPS has participated as an official Run for a Reason charity in the Chevron Houston Marathon as one of the original charities since the program started in 1994. Dedicated runners, walkers, fundraisers, donors, and supporters work hard to raise awareness and valuable funding for HAPS by donating funds, creating a fundraising page to share with friends and family, participating in the full marathon, half marathon and/or 5K races, or by cheering for and supporting race participants.

Blues, Brews and Barbecue is an annual fundraising event hosted by HAPS. This entertaining event is a full afternoon of barbecue, blues bands, and fun to raise money for the programs and services HAPS provides to those affected by Parkinson’s disease in our community.
