Exercise & Support 

 

Water Therapy & SupportHouston Area Parkinson Society exercise program provides individuals with Parkinson's disease and related disorders with exercise, water and  speech therapy, as well as tai chi, tango, meditation and dance classes.

All groups are conducted by licensed contract therapists and also serve as a forum for discussion and peer support for individuals with PD and caregivers.

These therapies are provided in over 30 exercise/support groups held at 19 area based sites per week covering the entire Houston Metropolitan Area.

  

There is no charge for any HAPS sponsored group.

In addition to the exercise groups, facilitated support groups are held monthly for caregivers and individuals with Parkinson's. Specific groups for those diagnosed prior to age 55 and their significant others, those over age 55,  and those who have had Deep Brain Stimulation are also offered. All support groups are facilitated by licensed  master level social workers.
