HAPS strongly supports research relevant to the study of the cause(s) and treatment of Parkinson's disease with the hope that the cure will be found in the very near future.

HAPS understands that many individuals with Parkinson's disease and their family members in our community are interested in the current research and clinical trials being done in the field of Parkinson's disease. HAPS has listed several of the local research/clinical trails currently underway as well as the contact information for the national organizations doing Parkinson's clinical studies and trials.

PARTICIPANTS NEEDED

Seeking Participants for Parkinson's Study!

Dr. Todd J. Swick is seeking participants for a clinical research study to assess the effects of an investigational medication on the control of early morning motor functions and sleep disorders. Qualified participants will receive study drug and study-related physician visits at no cost. If you have been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and are interested in participating, please call 713-465-7066 for additional information.

Do you have Parkinson's Disease?

People with Parkinson's are needed for a study on falls adn to participate in an exercise program. We are looking for people with Parkinson's who have problems walking and have difficulty with their balance. If you are interested and would like to find out more about the study, please call Dr. Elizabeth Protas at 409-772-3001 or Dr. Mon at 713-794-7393. The study is being conducted by researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch, the Parkinson's Disease Research, Education and Clinical Center at the Michael E. Debakey VA Hospital and the Movement Disorders Clinic at Baylor College of Medicine.

If you have a WALKING PROBLEM because of Parkinson's disease, call now to participate in Baylor's "PORTABLE SOUND CUING STUDY."

The purpose of the study is to evaluate the effect of using a portable sound-cuing device in improving walking performance in persons with Parkinson's disease (PD). Results from the study will help Baylor understand whether using a sound-cuing device improves walking. If so, the portable sound-cuing device can be a part of treatment for PD.
