You are cordially invited to Houston Area Parkinson Society’s Annual Awards Event, Changing the Face of Parkinson’s 2011, at 6 pm on Sunday, October 16th at The Bayou Club. The evening will include dinner, dancing and a brief awards ceremony. It promises to be an exciting and fun-filled occasion.
We hope you will join us as we recognize our distinguished award recipients for the outstanding contributions they have made to helping improve the quality of life for people affected by Parkinson’s disease. Houston Area Parkinson Society takes great pride in honoring the George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation with the Roy H. Cullen Quality of Life Award for the commitment it has made to helping people with Parkinson’s through its steadfast support of the organization. HAPS is also proud to honor former astronaut Michael “Rich” Clifford with the Lillie Cullen Quality of Life Award in recognition of living life with extraordinary courage and purpose as he completed a shuttle mission and space walk after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, serving as an inspiration to others with the disease.
When you attend Changing the Face of Parkinson’s, you will be supporting our efforts to fulfill the HAPS mission. By making essential services available to the 21,000 people in the Houston metropolitan area living with the challenges that accompany Parkinson’s disease, we improve quality of life. HAPS currently provides over 130 therapeutic exercise and support groups a month, numerous educational programs, transportation, social services, and a monthly newsletter free of charge along with subsidized respite care and emergency financial aid to families affected by the disease.
If you chose to underwrite, you will be acknowledged in the event’s invitation, on signage and in the program at the event. Please notify us by the printing deadline of August 18th so your name may be listed on the invitation.
By supporting this special event that pays tribute to our honorees and the contributions they make, you will ensure that HAPS continues to provide services that fill a vital need in our community. Together, we can play a pivotal role and make a significant difference to thousands of families who are living with Parkinson’s disease.
We understand well the demands dictated by Parkinson’s, with three family members between us who have been challenged by the disease. Please join us and help change the face of Parkinson’s. We truly appreciate your thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,
Gail and Mike Hendryx Leslye and David Weaver
